Still Here

They said it would numb the pain,
make the heavy feel light,
turn the dark into something I could survive.
So I took it

not knowing I was trading tomorrow
for a few quiet minutes tonight.

At first, it felt like freedom.
Laughter came easy.
Sleep came faster.
The noise in my head finally hushed.
But silence has a price,
and soon

I couldn’t hear myself anymore.

I watched my dreams sit in the corner,
waiting patiently,
while I chose escape over effort,
numb over brave,

temporary over true.

Addiction doesn’t always look like a monster.
Sometimes it looks like a friend.
A secret.
A way to cope.
A way to survive when no one taught you how to heal.

But listen

if you’re reading this,
you are still breathing.
That means your story is still writing.
That means your heart still believes
even when your mind is tired.

You are not weak for struggling.

You are human.
You are fighting a battle
most people can’t even see.

Recovery is not a straight line.
Some days you run.
Some days you crawl.
Some days you just sit and cry.
But every day you choose to stay
is a victory they can’t take from you.

You are more than your habit.
More than your mistake.
More than your worst day.
You are a future waiting for a chance
to breathe without chains.

If no one told you today—
I will:
You matter.
Your life matters.
Your healing matters.

And even if you fall…
get up messy.
Get up tired.
Get up scared.
Just don’t stay down.

Because you are still here.
And that means…
there is still hope. 💛
